The mission of the BennettStrong Foundation is to provide support to families of medically complex children.
Justification
Children born prematurely can face lifelong health complications that are taxing on families, the healthcare community, and the community at large. Bennett’s journey has been long and hard, and is not without significant residual effects. Cerebral palsy, cortical visual impairment, hepatoblastoma, and periventricular leukomalacia are just a few of the diagnoses that Bennett and his family are currently managing. Autism, Chronic Lung Disease, global developmental delay, certain cancers, learning disabilities, and ADD/ADHD are other common diagnoses that families of special needs children must learn to manage. These diagnoses can make daily tasks challenging for families and caregivers. It takes a special team of parents, caregivers, pediatricians, therapists, insurance providers, and case managers to manage a child’s medical care. The BennettStrong Foundation recognizes and understands the immense amount of stress that families cope with to ensure their special needs child has the best possible chance at a healthy and happy life. The mission of the BennettStrong Foundation acknowledges the daily battles these special children and their families fight. The Foundation’s end goal is to provide these families with hope for a healthy and happy future.
