We’re getting closer and closer to the BennettStrong: Roaring 1920’s Gala! As you know, this year’s gala is set for Saturday, March 1st from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and will be held at the Philmont Country Club (301 Tomlinson Road | Huntingdon Valley, PA). The gala will feature cocktail hour, live entertainment, including The Creswell Club, dinner, 4-hour open bar, red-carpet photos, live & silent auctions, raffle items and much more! The open bar will also feature special drinks courtesy of Tito’s Handmade Vodka who is once again a sponsor of the BennettStrong gala!
Proceeds from our annual gala help fund our Parent Survival Kits and Cloth Hearts project to help aid families going through their N/ICU journey.
We’re excited to have The Creswell Club perform at this year’s event. The Creswell Club is led by bassist Dan Martin, and features Betina Hershey (vocals/guitar), Nick Russo (guitar/banjo), Jay Rattman (sax/clarinet), Charlie Caranicas (trumpet) and Dan Monaghan (drums). They’ve played with Cécile McLorin, Bruce Barth, Jon Batiste, Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks, and so many others. In addition, Rich Kahn, the Voice of the Palestra, will be emceeing the BennettStrong: Roaring 1920’s gala. Kahn is in his 20th year as Voice of The Palestra and Penn Athletics. If you’ve been to a Penn basketball game or event you certainly have heard him. Kahn also has hosted the Penn Athletics Hall of Fame dinner every year along with other Penn events. Prior to his time with the Quakers, Kahn spent 13 years as the public address announcer for the New York Islanders and then spent another 19 years with the New York Jets.
Our silent auction and raffle items continue to grow! We’ve received a number of donations from businesses and organizations in our local community. Some donated items include, signed memorabilia from the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Knicks and the NL East Champion Philadelphia Phillies! Our friends at the Phillies donated a signed Kyle Schwarber cap and a signed Cristopher Sanchez baseball. We also have a raffle basket from the Baltimore Orioles, vouchers from Longwood Gardens and Shady Brook Farm and the very popular beer basket from Free Will Brewery to name a few. We are still accepting items for our silent auction and raffle so if anyone would like to donate please let us know. We are also welcoming any business/organizations that are interested in being a gala sponsor. We have four sponsorship levels with certain perks for each level.
